Missions & Outreach

Above: 2011 Youth Mission Trip to NADA, KY

ERDWorld Relief

Saint James' supports the work of the Episcopal Relief and Development Fund which helps peoples throughout the world in times of disaster.

Food

The first Sunday of each month we bring non-perishable food items for those in need.

Families

St James' also supports the Adopt-A Family Christmas program which provides a means for those less fortunate to give and receive Christmas presents. We also support the Adopt-A-Student program which gives schools supplies to those in need.

Prison

On a monthly basis we supply sundries to the Dolores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Facility to provide for some of the needs of the inmates there. We also take a Christmas service to the prison on a Saturday in December close to the holiday.

Shawl Ministry

A group of women meet on the third Monday of each month to knit and crochet shawls to provide warmth and comfort to those going through difficult times and share the joys of joyous times. They have distributed over 300 shawls as well as lap robes to nursing homes and baby blankets to Bayard House (a home for unwed mothers). As they knit prayers into shawls and share thoughts with each other the circle of knitters is also lifted spiritually.

Church Periodical Club

Saint James' collects pennies each week to go to the Miles of Pennies program which supplies written materials to school age youth around the world.

United Thank Offering

The members of St. James' also join with fellow Episcopalians in giving thanks for our blessings and helping fund other churches projects to the glory of God through the United Thank Offering. Coin boxes are provided so that when we say "Thank you, Lord" we can put aside a coin to help others in a tangible way. Once or twice a year those offerings are combined with those of others.

Family Promise

Family PromiseFamily Promise is a nonprofit organization committed to helping low-income families achieve lasting independence. St. James parish has made a commitment to become a support parish for Family Promise.
